All-Day Access: Need to call Grandma on a Sunday or a holiday? We're always open, no matter the day or the time.

Unique Video Hold Message: Only with ViableVRS do you get a video hold message when you call in. Our video messages inform you in sign language that you will be connected to the next available Video Interpreter.

Confidentiality: Need to order cable TV or Internet service, and need to share personal information such as your home address or your social security number? We never record any part of any conversation.

No Time Limit: Make your calls as long as you like; make as many calls as you want. Need to resolve a credit card dispute or need to call several hotels? Don't rush, our Video Interpreters will stay with you the entire time.

No Long Distance Charges: Calls through ViableVRS do not cost you a penny; go ahead and talk a bit longer with your family and relatives.

International Calls: Have a relative serving in the military overseas or want to order something overseas? Our Video Interpreters will connect you to any location in the world, as long as the conversation is in English.

Interpreter Support: Upon request we will staff your call with two Video Interpreters instead of one. This assures you that you are receiving the highest possible level of performance on calls you think will be complex.

With Voice Carryover (VCO), you can choose to use your voice when you speak to the person you are calling. The role of the Video Interpreter (VI) will be simply to sign what the other person says.

To use VCO with ViableVRS, you will need an audio input device, such as a microphone plugged into the videophone or computer, a cell phone, or a standard telephone. When you connect to ViableVRS, tell the VI, "I would like to use VCO" and the VI will promptly set up a connection with your audio input device.

There are several ways you can use VCO with ViableVRS:

  • Via Viable Vision, our VRS software for PC users
  • Via the VPAD, our videophone hardware which allows for automatic VCO opt-in
  • Via any videophone by dialing ViableVRS.TV
  • Via XMeeting for Mac users

The power of choice is in your hands!
If you have a Viable Phone Number, you can receive a ViableVRS call from your hearing co-workers, relatives and friends! All they need to do is dial your number and your call will automatically route through a ViableVRS Video Interpreter to you.

The hearing person can use any phone to call you, whether it be a cell phone or an old-fashioned handset telephone. However, for you to receive the call, you need to be logged into Viable Vision or your VPAD.

ALERT: Hearing people can call you at 877-VIABLE1 and give your Viable Screen Name to the ViableVRS Video Interpreter but this may stop on June 30, 2009. Afterwards, if you don't have a phone number you may be unable to receive AND make any VRS calls -- don't wait, get your Viable Phone Number today!

Don't just make VRS calls... receive them too!
SpanishVRS is not available for 911 calls.

Viable, a deaf-owned company, supports the FCC decision to require 9-1-1 access through VRS. I would like to take this opportunity to explain how you can dial 9-1-1 via ViableVRS.

For years, we have used the TTY to contact 9-1-1 emergency services. They have the ability to automatically retrieve our location, even if we are unable to give our address. Today, the TTY is still the recommended way to contact 9-1-1 emergency services.

If you dial 9-1-1 through VRS, your call will be moved to the front of the queue. When the video interpreter comes onscreen, you will be asked for your name, your address, the address of emergency if different from your address, and the nature of your emergency. This way the VI can call you back if your call is disconnected. The VI will call a special center and get your local emergency phone number, dial that number and interpret the conversation between you and your local 9-1-1 responder.

We recommend that you prepare ahead of time and add "911.ViableVRS.tv" to your contacts. When there is an emergency, you can dial right away and connect without delay.

Viable cares about the deaf community and supports the FCC decision to ensure 9-1-1 access for the safety of VRS users. Please visit our website for updates on 9-1-1 access via ViableVRS.

Thank you.
