That is a possibility, as is almost everything else with the VPAD. It was not designed to conduct VRI sessions; quite simply, the VPAD is much more than a videophone.

Wireless

What protocol will the VPAD use to place point-to-point calls?
Two options for placing point-to-point calls exist as of now: IP address or a VSN (http://www.viable.net/product/vsn). The VPAD can connect to any SIP- or h.323-compliant videophone application or hardware.

How fast is the VPAD video connection?
The VPAD transmits video at 30 FPS, bringing clarity even to the sloppy finger spellers among us.

What kind of WiFi standard does the VPAD use?
The VPAD WiFi feature is enabled by an external WiFi USB adapter (802.11g standard) which must be obtained separately.

Will I have to pay for my VPAD WiFi connection?
The VPAD will act exactly like a laptop with a 802.11(g) wireless network interface card so it will depend on the WiFi network you use at a given time. Your local library or coffeehouse may offer free WiFi connection, or may require payment/registration to access their WiFi network.

Equipment

How will I know when I have an incoming caller?
The VPAD has light and audio alert systems. Additionally, you can plug in devices that work with the telephone line (RJ-11) port and, as examples, have the room lights go off or your couch vibrate when there is an incoming call.

Why can't the VPAD accept incoming IP calls?
The VPAD cannot accept incoming IP calls because it uses an advanced technology platform. This may prevent other videophones from connecting with the VPAD. The VPAD can make IP calls to all videophones and softphones.

Can the VPAD audio/video in/out connect with a TV, DVD, VHS, video camera, LCD projector, etc.?
The audio/video possibilities are endless-the VPAD can be connected to a TV, Camcorder, VHS, etc., for display or recording. It also can be used to display video content from a DVD player or a camcorder, and can transmit the image to the other party. For example, you could call someone using the VPAD then show a video of a niece's birthday party.

Does the VPAD come with a USB 2.0 slot? Can I connect the VPAD with any USB keyboard?
The VPAD has one USB slot, which you can then plug in a wide selection of USB-compliant devices, for example, any USB keyboard, either wired or wireless. If you wish to use multiple USB devices, you could connect it with a USB hub.

Does the VPAD use a remote?
The VPAD will feature touch screen technology where users can navigate their way around simply by touching icons. The VPAD also provides an on-screen keyboard to enter textual and numerical information.

Will I be able to transfer my Viable Vision profile, address book, speed dial list, etc.?
Your profile is remote so you can access your Viable Screen Name (VSN) information on either the VPAD or Viable Vision. We intend for the VPAD and Viable Vision to provide a seamlessly integrated experience.

Can I mount my VPAD onto my wall, like my HDTV?
The VPAD can be mounted on the wall; it is compatible with VESA standards, which is universal. If the VPAD is not mounted on a wall, it can be propped up with a kickstand.

You could purchase a power adapter for your VPAD. Viable does not provide a car adapter with the VPAD package.
