![]() ![]() Viable empowers deaf and hard of hearing people by providing next-generation technologies and quality video relay services that allow them to communicate with their family members, friends and businesses. In pursuit of our goal of converging video, text and data into the simplest and most robust platform yet, our innovative, scalable offerings include videoconferencing hardware and software, and 24/7 video relay services, and on-demand video-based and on-site interpreting services. Viable president and co-founder John T.C. Yeh, who is deaf, firmly believes that the quality of deaf and hard of hearing people's lives is tied to the quality of the communication access available to them. "Our access to education, to employment, to services, and to relationships depends on whether we can communicate effectively." Viable exists so deaf and hard of hearing people can have solutions that are specifically designed for them. The era of telling deaf people to be patient and do what they can with off-the-shelf solutions is over. Viable is deaf-owned and deaf-operated, and is proud to remain privately owned. Viable does not answer to investors and is therefore not beholden to shareholders; business strategy and decisions do not center around meeting a particular profit margin for investors, which often compels companies to compromise quality. Viable bases its product design, service delivery and business decisions on what best meets the communication needs of the deaf and hard of hearing community. ![]() Viable believes in a special brand of social responsibility: Deaf community empowerment. Whenever possible, Viable works with deaf-owned or deaf-friendly businesses that embrace the same philosophy and are likewise committed to creating opportunities for talented deaf and hard of hearing professionals. We work with these businesses to fulfill many critical operations functions, including but not limited to call center support, video production, consumer education, professional development, and many more. Viable vigorously recruits qualified deaf and hard of hearing applicants for positions and has provided internship experiences to deaf and hard of hearing students from Gallaudet University and Rochester Institute of Technology. No employee is marginalized. Viable provides all hearing employees with interpreting services for staff meetings and provides American Sign Language classes and deaf culture workshops to interested employees, encouraging them to become supporters of the deaf and hard of hearing community. Viable also provides mentoring and in-house professional development opportunities that allow staff interpreters to maintain their national certification with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and continue their steadfast contribution to the deaf and hard of hearing community. |
