Evacuation
Yesterday the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, one of our neighbors from a block away, held an evacuation drill. More than 1,000 employees crowded practically the entire block and spilled over in front of one of our buildings. Watch the video below for a joke from John Fine, one of our web developers – we’ll provide a transcript later so we don’t play spoiler. Update 5/27: We captioned the video!
Coincidentally, the NRC communications person who informed us of the evacuation drill last week knew ASL and we were able to chat. During the evacuation drill, the person who sat closest to our building entrance (the lady holding the green bag) didn’t realize the office building behind her was populated almost entirely by deaf people and was excited to fingerspell to us just so she could make the evacuation drill go by faster. If this keeps up, there’ll be no need for VRS!
